Vaughan stated on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, which he co-hosts with Adam Gilchrist, “You bring up James Anderson, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he joins the Chennai Super Kings. This is where you first heard it. Someone who can swing it in the first few overs is preferred by their team. Whether it was Shardul Thakur or someone else, they have always had a swinger.”
Recently, James Anderson told Sky Sports, “I think that’s the whole reason I’m going to the (IPL) auction, I want to play cricket again, Whether or not I am picked up is a different story. I firmly believe that I have more to contribute, in one way or another.”
With a respectable Test record in India (44 wickets in 17 matches at an average of 30.27), Anderson may be an excellent choice for any team. However, his capacity to swing the new ball and take wickets hasn’t quite been tested on the flat decks used in the Indian Premier League.
