WATCH: India’s national anthem faces technical glitch ahead of first T20I vs South Africa in Durban

On Friday, November 8, the national anthem of India went through a technical glitch while the Indian players were singing it ahead of the first T20I of the four-match series against South Africa. The Indian national anthem got paused twice while it was being played at the Kingsmead in Durban, but despite that, the players of Team India sung it on top of their lungs on the live broadcast.

After winning the toss, Aiden Markram, the captain of South Africa, decided to bowl first, and prior to the play being set to begin at the Kingsmead in Durban, the glitch involving the Indian national anthem happened. In the immediate aftermath, the social media has gone abuzz about the matter, with some calling it disrespectful towards India, its citizens, and the players on the field.

Shortly after the Indian national anthem was completed following a couple of pauses, the national anthem of South Africa had no such glitch whatsoever. Following that, the first T20I of the four-match T20I series began on time, and the Indian cricket team reached 56/1 at the close of the power play stage with Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav looking well set.
