Behaviour like that is unacceptable on my cricket field: Daren Sammy tears into Alzarri Joseph for walking off field

Former West Indies captain and head coach Daren Sammy slammed Alzarri Joseph for his on-field behaviour during a match. Joseph engaged in a heated argument with skipper Shai Hope over field setup during the third ODI against England. The 27-year-old was left agitated with the same and walked off the field in frustration. Notably, West Indies hosted England for the third match of the ODI series on Wednesday, November 6 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

The game saw Joseph walking off the field after a heated argument with Shai Hope over field arrangement. The act didn’t sit well with head coach and former captain Daren Sammy and he described it as “unacceptable” while calling for an urgent conversation about the same. Joseph picked the wicket of Jordan Cox, and despite celebrating it, he walked off the pitch, shocking everyone with his behaviour.

Daren Sammy expressed his displeasure with Joseph Alcaraz’s behaviour and simply called it “unacceptable”. He talked to TalkSPORT after the game and said, “Behaviour like that is unacceptable on my cricket field. We will be friends…but in the culture I’m trying to build, that’s unacceptable. We will definitely have a chat about that.”

Explaining his approach to handling team dynamics, Sammy said, “I pride myself on having the difficult conversations. But in a way that everybody understands what is needed to be done. To see guys going out there and slowly progressing in the right direction makes me proud.”
