The Tom Latham-led New Zealand, the inaugural champions of the World Test Championship (WTC), whitewashed India in India 3-0 in the three-match Test series. After already winning the series at MCA Stadium in Pune, the Kiwis registered a clean sweep as they won the third Test by 25 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
While Kiwis registered their first-ever Test series win over India since 2012 in India, it was also the first time India have been whitewashed in a home series of three or more Tests at home. Moreover, New Zealand became the only fourth team to whitewash India in a series of three-plus Test after England (4), Australia (3) and West Indies (1).
How can New Zealand qualify for WTC Final 20 25?
Moreover, with this crucial series win, the Black Caps also opened their gates of making their second appearance in the WTC Final, which is set to be held from 11 to 15 June at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London in 2025. The Tom Latham-led side from hereon will need to win all their remaining matches in order to qualify for the WTC Final.
The Black Caps have won 11 and lost six games in the WTC cycle 2023-25, with three games remaining, and a win in all of the remaining matches would elevate their percentage to 64, which could come in play should other results favour them. Here is a list of the remaining games for New Zealand in the WTC 2023-25 cycle:
