He prabhu, ye kya hua: Fans go berserk after New Zealand whitewash India to win Test series by 3-0

New Zealand created history after winning the third Test against India by 25 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With this, the Kiwis also became the first-ever visiting side to whitewash India in India in a Test series. Chasing a target of 147 runs, India were bowled out for just 121 runs on day three, and suffered their one of the most shocking defeats in Test cricket at home. New Zealand have now won the series by 3-0.

After losing the first two games in Bengaluru and Pune respectively, India lost a Test series at home after 12 years and 18 consecutive series wins. However, the hosts still had a chance to prevent a clean sweep in Mumbai, but Ajaz Patel came out as the biggest obstacle for them as the spinner took six wickets in the second innings.

Rishabh Pant’s fighting knock goes in vain

Even after trailing by 28 runs, in the first innings, New Zealand were able to set a target off 147 runs for India to win as they were bowled out for 174 runs in the second innings. Coming to bat on day three, India had a disastrous start as the hosts lost five wickets for just 29 runs. After that, Rishabh Pant took charge of the innings as the left–hander took the innings further single handedly.

Despite scoring his second-consecutive fifty in the match, Rishabh Pant failed to take India down the line as he got out after scoring 64 runs off 57 balls. At last, India were bowled out for 121 runs with Ajaz Patel shining with the figures of 6/57. Patel also took a five-wicket haul in the first innings.
