They’re not ready: Vinicius Jr shares cryptic post after Rodri pips him to win Ballon d’Or 2024

Manchester City midfielder Rodri pipped Brazilian star Vinicius Jr to win the 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or title. The Spanish footballer has been awarded for his tremendous performance during the 2023-24 season, including the English Premier League title triumph for the fourth consecutive time. He also played a crucial role in Spain’s 2024 Euro win and was named player of the tournament. 

Coming second in the Men’s Ballon d’Or 2024, Vinicius Jr took to social media to share his thoughts after being snubbed from the prestigious award. Notably, Vinicius has always been known for his fight against racism in the sport. The Real Madrid star has also shown great performance in the 2023-24 season. Vinicius wrote on his social media writing, “Eu farei 10x se for preciso. Eles não estão preparados,” which was translated to “I’ll do it 10x if I have to. They’re not ready.”

Vinicius Jr, Kylian Mbappe and other Real Madrid stars miss Ballon d’Or 2024 ceremony as protest

Notably, Real Madrid players including Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham, Dani Carvajal and club President Florentino Perez missed the Ballon d’Or 2024 ceremony at Theatre du Chetelet in Paris on Monday night as a mark of protest. As reported by Mint, the Real Madrid delegation canceled their visit at the last moment after learning that Vinicius isn’t winning the award. 

Vinicius Jr has shown prolific form in the last one year, having won the Champions League Player of the Year award in Real Madrid’s title triumph. He also played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s La Liga win. The forward has scored 21 goals and 11 assists in La Liga and UEFA Champions combined last year.
