Play of the Day: Rajat Patidar smashes 159 runs as Madhya Pradesh set 173-run target for Haryana

Rajat Patidar shone with a fiery hundred on day 4 of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match between Madhya Pradesh and Haryana at Holkar Stadium in Indore. Madhya Pradesh set a target of 173 runs for Haryana to win. After trailing by 136 runs in the first innings, Madhya Pradesh declared their second innings on 308/4 as Patidar top scored with a century. The right-hander scored 159 runs off just 102 balls along with 13 fours and seven sixes.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Sagar Solanki and Venkatesh Iyer put up an opening partnership of 49 runs. Solanki got out after scoring run-a-ball 32 runs with three fours and six. After a few overs, Iyer also lost his wicket scoring 28 runs off 41 balls. After that, Rajat Patidar and Harpreet Singh Bhati took charge of the innings as the duo added 108 runs for the third wicket.

Rajat Patidar brings up 13th First class hundred

Harpreet Singh Bhatia got out after scoring 44 runs off 58 balls along with three fours and one six. On the other hand, Rajat Patidar went on to score his 13th first-class hundred. The right-hander helped Madhya Pradesh to post 308/4 in the second innings. Skipper Shubham Sharma was also unbeaten on 38 runs off 58 balls. 

For Haryana, Harshal Patel took two wickets, while Aman Kumar and Jayant Yadav bagged a wicket each. Chasing the target, Mayank Shandilya came up with a half-century for Haryana as they were 83/2 at the time of writing. Shandilya was batting on 51 runs off 55 balls.
