Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh made his predictions for the probable retention list of the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the mega auction for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. The franchises have been given a deadline of October 31 to submit the final list of their retained players ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.
The former cricketer snubbed fast bowler Harshit Rana from KKR IPL 2025 retention list. Harbhajan Singh has also been a part of KKR squad in IPL 2021 and is aware about the team culture. The off spinner believes that Harshit Rana can’t be one of six retentions for KKR ahead of the much awaited mega auctions that will be scheduled soon. In his place, Harbhajan picked Ramandeep Singh to get retained as an uncapped players by the defending champions.
It will be difficult for KKR to leave or retain anyone: Harbhajan Singh
In his conversation with Star Sports, Harbhajan Singh gave his six names as a possible retention for KKR ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction. He included skipper Shreyas Iyer, Phil Salt, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh and Ramandeep Singh in his list. “KKR dominated the entire season, so it will be difficult for them to leave or retain anyone. But it’s a matter of retention, so you only have limited numbers that you can retain. If I want to see or if I have to choose my 6 players, which 6 players will be there for KKR?” Harbhajan was quoted as saying by Inside Sport.
“I think Shreyas Iyer will be there, Phil Salt will be there, Narine will be there, Andre Russell will be there. Rinku Singh will be there. I will definitely want to see Rinku Singh. He should be the 5th player to be retained. And if we talk about one more player, who is the last player to be retained? It could be Ramandeep Singh. He is an uncapped player. I think he should be retained,” he further added.
