Play of the Day: Paras Dogra becomes 2nd highest run-scorer in Ranji Trophy as Jammu and Kashmir smash Services

Jammu and Kashmir skipper Paras Dogra achieved a new milestone in his career in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Services at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar. Dogra only scored 28 runs in the first innings, but he managed to surpass Amol Muzumdar to become the second highest run scorer in the history of Ranji Trophy. Ultimately,  Jammu and Kashmir defeated Services in a one-sided match by an innings and 25 runs.

Notably, Amol Muzumdar had amassed 9202 runs in his Ranji career with Mumbai, Assam, and Andhra Pradesh. On the other hand, Paras Dogra surpassed him during the recently concluded match against Services as the right-hander has now scored 9203 runs in his Ranji career while playing for Himachal Pradesh, Puducherry, and Jammu and Kashmir. In the all-time list, he is just behind Wasim Jaffer, who scored 12038 runs in his Ranji career for Mumbai and Vidarbha. 

Umar Nazir Mir scalped six wickets as Jammu Kashmir register dominating win against Services

After bowling Services out for just 71 runs in the first innings, Jammu and Kashmir posted 228 runs, to take a lead of 157 runs in the first innings. Shubham Khajuria top scored with a knock of 55 runs off 94 balls with eight fours and a six for Jammu and Kashmir. Varun Chaudhary took a five-wicket haul for Services. After that, Umar Nazir Mir shone with the ball for Jammu and Kashmir.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Services were bowled out for 132 runs as Jammu and Kashmir registered an innings and 25-run victory. Umar Nazir Mir, who went wicketless in the first innings, registered figures of 6/53 in 12 overs. For Services, Shubham Rohilla top scored with 47 runs off 78 balls, an innings which had seven boundaries.
