R Ashwin achieves unique feat; becomes second bowler to record 150 LBW dismissals

Indian ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin achieved a unique feat during the second Test between India and New Zealand. After India recorded a historic defeat in the first Test, both sides came against each other in the second game at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The match began on Thursday, October 24, and on the first day of the game, Rohit Sharma and Co. destroyed the Kiwi batting lineup. Washington Sundar, on his comeback in Tests, recorded his best first-class figures of 7/59 as New Zealand collapsed to 259.

In the game, Ashwin picked three wickets and recorded another feat in international cricket. On Day 1 of the game, the senior spinner dismissed New Zealand’s skipper Tom Latham, Will Young as well as Devon Conway. India, while batting, got off to a disappointing start as skipper Rohit Sharma was compelled to return on a nine ball duck. The two-time WTC finalists found it difficult to maintain stability and clearly failed to do magic with the bat. They were bundled out for 156 runs in 45.3 overs.

However, as far as only Tests are considered, the Indian spinner leads the tally with 116 dismissals while Muralitharan is in second spot with 110 wickets.
