The leg spinner registered figures of 7/48 in the first innings as India took a 141-run lead. After that Kumble shone against Australia in the second innings with figures of 6/133 as India went on to win the Test match by 10 wickets.

Ravindra Jadeja registered best figures of his Test career in a match against Australia in Delhi in 2023. After felling short of just 1 run in the first innings, India bowled Australia out for just 113 in the second innings with Jadeja coming up with figures of 7/42. India won that match comfortably by six wickets. 

5. Jason Krejza – 8/215

Former Australian spinner Jason Krejza comes fifth in the list of best bowling figures in an innings in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In a Test match against India in Nagpur, 2008, Krejza registered figures of 8/215 in the first innings. He also had impressive bowling in the second innings with the figures of 4/143. However, it didn’t turn out to be match-winning bowling performance as Australia lost the match by 172 runs. 

4. Anil Kumble – 8/141

Anil Kumble came up with his best bowling figures against Australia in a Test match in Sydney in 2004. After India posted 705/7 in the first innings, Kumble came up with figures of 8/141 as Australia were bowled out for 474 runs. Kumble also took 4 wickets in the second innings before the match ended in a draw. 

3. Harbhajan Singh – 8/84

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh delivered his career best bowling performance in a Test match against Australia in Chennai in 2001. After taking seven wickets in the first innings, Harbhajan helped India to take a lead of 110 runs. After that, Harbhajan shone again in the second innings with the figures of 8/84 as India went on to win the match 2 wickets.

2. Nathan Lyon – 8/64

Nathan Lyon is the all-time leading wicket-taker in Test matches between India and Australia. The off-spinner registered one of the best figures of his career in a match against India in Indore in 2023. With the help of Lyon’s figures of 8/64 in the second innings, Australia defeated India by 9 wickets.

Nathan Lyon comes first for the best bowling figures in an innings in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In a Test match between India and Australia, Lyon registered figures of 8/50 in Bengaluru as Australia bowled India out for 189 runs in the first innings. However, India made a great comeback and still managed to win the Test match by 75 runs.
