Indian batter Abhishek Sharma gave a death stare to Sufiyan Muqeem after the latter gave him an animated send off in ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024. On Saturday, October 19, India A opened their campaign in the continental tournament by clashing against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman. The fourth game of the tournament started with India A skipper Tilak Varma winning the toss and inviting the rivals to field first.
The Men in Blue got off to a decent start as openers Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh scored 35 and 36 runs, respectively. Nehal Wadera came up with a knock of 25 runs off 22 deliveries while Ayush Badoni could only score 2 runs from 3 balls. However, unfortunately Indian batters failed to make an impact and fell prey to the Pakistan bowling attack. Sufiyan Muqeen had scalped two wickets by the completion of the 15th over while Arafat Minhas and Qasim Akram dismissed one Indian batter each.
The matches between India and Pakistan have always been filled with high-voltage drama and some action was also seen in the match. During the game, Pakistan’s Sufiyan Muqeem gave a fiery send off to Indian batter Abhishek Sharma after his dismissal. This attitude didn’t sit well with Sharma and he gave a fiery death stare to the bowler. The incident took place on the first ball of the seventh over when Sharma was caught out by Qasim Akram off a Sufiyan Muqeem delivery.
The spinner gave the batter an animated send off, by pointing him to move out of the field while saying something. While Pakistan members congratulated the bowler for the wicket, Sharma gave a death stare to him before one of the Pakistan team’s members and the umpire intervened. Sharma walked back to the pavilion after scoring 35 runs off 22 balls with a combination of five boundaries and two maximums. As of writing, India had posted 137 runs for four at the end of the 17th over.
