6 players GT can retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

The franchises are geared up for the mega auction ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. With the new retention rules set by the BCCI, the franchises can now retain six players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. In case the franchises don’t retain any of their players, they can use six right-to-match (RTM) cards instead during the auction, which allow them to bring their best players back to the squad for the same price at which any other franchise makes a final bid.

With six retentions available ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, the franchises can bring their back to their squad who have been a crucial part of the team over the years with their consistent performances. The franchises have been given a deadline of October 31, to send their player retention list. Here’s the possible retentions for the franchises ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.

Gujarat Titans (GT) went on to become one of the strongest teams in the IPL since their debut in IPL 2022. They became champions in 2022, and finished as the runners-up in 2023. However, GT didn’t have a memorable outing in IPL 2024 after releasing their former skipper Hardik Pandya. Now, GT will look to get their six best possible retentions ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.

Shubman Gill took over the charge as captain of GT after Hardik Pandya’s exit. The opening batter has been a consistent performer for GT over the years, and is likely to the first retained player by the franchise ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction. GT can retain him at a price of INR 18 crore.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami has been a spearhead fast bowler for Gujarat Titans, and finished as a leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023 with 28 wickets from 17 matches. However, the right-arm pacer missed out on IPL 2024 due to knee injury. However, Shami is expected to still be among the retained players for GT ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction. GT can retain him at a whopping 18 crore INR.

Rashid Khan

Star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan is likely to be the next retained player for Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction. The leg spinner has been a crucial player for GT with his bowling. Apart from that, he can also come as a handy batter at lower order and produce some big hits. Rashid can be retained by GT at a price of INR 14 crore.

David Miller

South Africa’s Daivd Miller has shown great form in recent times, and is known for his power hitting abilities during death overs. He has been a strength for GT’s middle order in the last couple of years. Gujarat Titans can retain Miller at a price of INR 14 crore.
