He has got the ability to play in any conditions: Brian Lara hopes Yashasvi Jaiswal to go big in BGT 2024-25

Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara heaped praise on young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal for his excellence while batting in Test cricket. The Caribbean great feels that the opening batter will play a crucial role for India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy in Australia. India are scheduled to play five Test matches starting from November 26 Down Under. The Men in blue aim to win a Test series in Australia for the third consecutive time after 2018-19 and 2020-21.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has cemented his place in the Indian Test side with his remarkable performances in the last one year. The left-hander smashed 171 runs in his debut Test against West Indies. After that, Jaiswal had a memorable Test series against England at home where he amassed 712 runs from just five matches. He is currently the second highest run scorer in the ongoing World Test championship cycle with 1217 from 11 matches. The 22-year-old is set to travel to Australia for a Test series for the first time in his international career for India.

I don’t think there’s much that Jaiswal has to do technically: Brian Lara

Brian Lara said that Yashasvi Jaiswal has the ability to bat in any condition. The former cricketer also mentioned that left hander doesn’t need to make any changes in his technique. “I think he’s [Jaiswal] got the ability to play in any condition. I saw him in the Caribbean. Obviously the pitches in Australia are slightly different, but if you take that sort of strength that you have, you’re going to play good cricket in any conditions. So, I expect to see him do well,” Lara was quoted as saying by Crictracker.

“I don’t think there’s much that he has to do technically. I just think it’s all about the mental thing. Travelling away from home. Playing against Australia on their shores is a different beast. But I believe that the Indian team that I’ve seen going to Australia over the last couple of occasions are very capable of winning,” Lara further said.
