Asif Hussain, who played in the inaugural season of the Bengal Pro T20 League, passed away after a sudden accident at home, as per the media reports. At the age of 28 years old, Asif Hussain, who was a part of Adamas Howrah Warriors, got hurt after falling down the stairs in his own home, suffering a deep injury to his head on Monday, September 30, following which he was pronounced dead by the doctors in Kolkata.
According to the report from MyKhel, Asif Hussain was rushed to a hospital in the West Bengal capital after the accident took place in his home, but the doctors weren’t able to save him. After the news of the tragic death of Asif Hussain was circulated in the cricketing circles in Bengal, the entire community went in shock, as they couldn’t believe the sudden turn of events.

Earlier in the year, Asif Hussain had grabbed headlines in Bengal cricket after scoring 99 runs in just 57 balls for Adamas Howrah Warriors against Harbour Diamonds in the Bengal Pro T20 League 2024 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Although his individual performances were quite good throughout the tournament, Adamas Howrah Warriors finished outside the top four positions on the points table, failing to reach the semi-final stage.
Apart from representing Bengal at the age-level cricket, Asif Hussain had played domestic cricket for Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh during his cricketing career, which was gathering momentum in the prime years of his sporting life. Notably, before his tragic passing a day ago, he had signed a new deal with Sporting Union to play some club cricket in the upcoming 2024-25 season.
