On Monday, September 30, the Men in Blue took charge at the crease after they bundled out Bangladesh for 233 in 74.2 overs at the Green Park in Kanpur in second Test. While Monimul Haque was the sole batter to score an unbeaten 107 off 194 runs, Jasprit Bumrah-led charge for the Indian bowlers as he completed three wickets while Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep took two each and Ravindra Jadeja got a solitary wicket.
With skipper, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal taking the crease, the pair brought up fifty in just three overs, etching a new feat in Test cricket history. The duo’s quickfire start also helped him register the fastest team 50 in Test cricket history, breaking the previous best of England, where the Three Lions reached the 50-run mark in 4.2 overs against West Indies in a Test match earlier this year.
Rohit Sharma becomes fourth batter to smash first two balls for sixes
Yashasvi Jaiswal, who opened the innings, took two balls to turn on his beast mode as he then smashed Hasan Mahmud for three consecutive fours. Rohit Sharma, who then took the strike off Khaled Ahmed’s over, smashed first two deliveries for back-to-back sixes and then hit another one off Mahmud’s over.
Seeing this, the social media platforms were set ablaze seeing the pair smash the Bangladesh bowlers all around the park. However, Rohit’s stay was short lived, Jaiswal got to his fifty in 8.2 overs.
