Sri Lanka spinner, Prabath Jayasuriya brought up his ninth five-wicket haul in Test cricket on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test against New Zealand at the Galle International Stadium in Galle on Saturday, September 28. The 32-year-old scalped six wickets as New Zealand collapsed at 88 all out in reply to Sri Lanka’s 602/5 declared innings.
For the unversed, the Sri Lanka captain, Dhananjaya de Silva enforced a follow-on as New Zealand were put to bat again, trailing by a massive 514 runs. Although, Kiwis opener, Tom Latham departed on a six-ball duck, Devon Conway added crucial 61 runs with a fighting knock of 46 from Kane Williamson. Prabath Jayasuriya scalped one wicket, while debutant Nishan Peiris continued to shine as he scalped three more wickets in his 17 overs on Day 3.

The 32-year-old Sri Lankan spinner with six wickets in the ongoing Test match, is on the verge of making history. He is just six wickets away from equalling the record or the fastest to 100 Test wickets, a milestone set by England’s George Lohmann in 1896.
