During a post-tournament photo session after the conclusion of the Olympiad in Hungary, both Indian and Pakistan teams posed for the camera. Notably, the 45th edition of the Chess Olympiad saw India making history as both the men’s and women’s teams returned with their maiden gold medals.
The Indian men’s team featured D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and R Praggnanandhaa, who showed their dominance throughout the tournament. The Indian men defeated Slovenia in the final round. D Gukesh, who emerged as the star performer, won 10 out of 11 rounds and took India to the top with 21 points out of 22. On the other hand, the women’s team featured D Harika, Tania Sachdev, and R Vaishali, who defeated Azerbaijan in the final.

Notably, the tournament saw Pakistan’s Momin Fayzan earning the Candidate Master (CM) title with an impressive score of 6.5/11. On the other hand, an 11-year-old chess star Aayat Asmi secured the title of Woman Candidate Master (WCM) with a score of 5 out of 10 in the women’s division.
