India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test: Rohit Sharma wins toss; India come up with same playing XI against Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side

The second Test between India and Bangladesh saw a delayed start due to overnight rain in the city of Kanpur. After registering a mammoth 280-run win over their counterparts and gaining an early lead in the series, the Rohit Sharma -led side were set to host Bangladesh for the second match of the clash. Both sides were set to meet at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, and while it seemed like both hosts and visitors were ready to clash it out, the weather wasn’t in their favour.

Owing to the overnight rain and some rain forecast, the game saw a delayed start. Both skippers, Rohit Sharma and Najmul Hossain Shanto appeared for the toss, which resulted in the home team’s favour. Sharma, on winning the toss, invited the rivals to bat first. Speaking about the playing XI, the two-time WTC finalists came up with the same set to team as in the first Test. On the other hand, Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana were replaced by Taijul Islam and Khaled Ahmed.

Earlier during the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said, “The pitch seems a bit soft, so we have to make early inroads and we want our three seamers to make use of it. We didn’t start well with the bat in the first game, but we found a way to score and the bowlers did the job. I expect no difference here (fight from Bangladesh), we will be challenged but we have the experience to bounce back.”

Shanto, on the other hand said, “As a batter if we get a start we have to score well. Hope our batters can score big today. Looks like a good wicket to bat on. New ball batting will be key though.” As of writing, Bangladesh were 26-0 by the end of eight overs.
