On Tuesday, September 24, the Indian Test team, led by Rohit Sharma, made their arrival to Kanpur ahead of the second Test match against Bangladesh at the Green Park, starting in just three day’s time. The Indian players flew in from Chennai, where they had defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test match inside four days at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, on the back of a player of the match award for Ravichandran Ashwin in his hometown.
For the unversed, the Indian cricket team had set up a daunting target of 515 runs for Bangladesh in the fourth innings of the Test match after declaring their second innings on 287/4, following a hundred each for Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill. In pursuit of the big target, Bangladesh kept losing wickets regularly, to get bundled out for just 234 runs on the fourth day after Ravichandran Ashwin had picked up six wickets.
Ravichandran Ashwin scored a hundred and picked a five-wicket haul in first Test for India against Bangladesh
Earlier in the Chennai Test match, India had posted a very good first innings score of 376 runs on a pitch assisting the pacers after a hundred from Ravichandran Ashwin, while for Bangladesh, Hasan Mahmud had picked up a five-wicket haul. In response, the visitors could only get up 149 runs in their first innings, mainly due to a four-wicket haul from Jasprit Bumrah.
