India secured a dominant 280-run victory over their near neighbours, Bangladesh to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. The Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue put up a mammoth 515-run target for the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side, but the latter failed to get the scoreboard ticking despite skipper’s 82 off 127 deliveries and were bundled out for 234 in just 62.1 overs.
While Ravichandra Ashwin won the Player of the Match award for his pivotal role, both with the bat as well as the bat, scoring a century and finishing with the figures of 6/88 in the match, the game also saw players share some light hearted moments during the four-day match.
Shubman Gill pokes fun at Siraj; says “Mohammed Siraj official ID hai, baki sab fake”
In one such instances which is going viral on social media, Indian batter, Shubman Gill was seen pulling Siraj’s leg as he poked fun at him. In the videos it can be seen that Gill was teasing Siraj on the field as he was heard saying, “Mohammed Siraj official ID hai, baki sab fake hai (This is Mohammed Siraj’s official ID, all the others are fake)”.
Moreover, this banter emerged after an old video, which was shared by Siraj on his official Instagram handle saw him giving clarification that his account was genuine amid presence of several fake profiles.
BCCI names unchanged squad for second Test against Bangladesh
After a resounding victory over Bangladesh, India will now turn their focus on the second Test, which is scheduled to begin on Friday, September 27 at the Green Park in Kanpur. The Men in Blue will aim to extend their flawless record, which currently stands 12-0 in favour of the hosts out of the 14 matches played between the two sides.
Moreover, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday, September 22 named an unchanged squad for the second Test. While this announcement came within moments of India’s emphatic victory in Chennai Test, India is unlikely to make any changes to their Playing XI.
