Team India is hosting Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. While the match is of key importance seeing the World Test Championship (WTC) Final scheduled to take place next year in June, it is also seeing the return of some star players, including Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, among others.
On the return to Test cricket after months, skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did not have the perfect start as they registered scores of 6, 5 (Rohit Sharma) and 6, 17 (Virat Kohli) in the two innings. However, on Day 2 of the ongoing Test, Team India skipper was seen fuming in anger as Bangladesh took the guards in the middle.
During the first Test against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma was seen getting angry on one of his fielders as he was caught on the camera saying, “Oye, soye hue hai sab log (Everybody is sleeping).” Although, it is not clear that whom did he point towards, but the video since then has been making rounds on social media.
It is to be noted that Rohit Sharma’s style of leading the team has been very different from Virat Kohli. While Rohit has been quite open in expressing himself on the field, this was one of the many instances where he pointed towards playing with intensity. Although, he did not have much of an impact with the bat in the first Test, in four Tests and five innings against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma has scored 44 runs at an average of 8.80 with his best score of 21. Meanwhile, in the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle, Rohit Sharma has scored 711 runs at an average of 41.82 with three centuries and three fifties.
