Shubman Gill , the Indian cricketer, became the first batter to score over 3000 runs in international cricket across formats from the start of 2023 during the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh, on Friday, September 20. The 25-year-old reached the coveted milestone in the second innings for the Indian cricket team, when he struck a boundary off the bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the final session on day two at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
SInce the year 2023, Shubman Gill has been in sensational form in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, registering three-figures scores in all of them. While establishing himself at the top of the order in Test cricket, the right-handed batter made giant strides in T20I cricket in the last 18 months or so, and the ODI cricket has been his best format in terms of scoring big runs on a consistent basis, notching up six hundreds and 13 fifties in just 47 innings.

In the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Shubman Gill was dismissed without troubling the scorers on the first morning in his attempt to flick a half volley outside leg stump from Hasan Mahmud. Instead of getting the middle of the bat, he could only nick the ball through to the wicket-keeper Litton Das.
The second innings from Shubman Gill during the evening session on day two was a fruitful one, scoring 33 not out off 64 with four boundaries, and in the midst of it, he went past 3000 runs in international cricket since the start of 2023. The fans can expect a lot of runs in the remainder of the ongoing calendar year from the right-handed batter since there will be a lot of Test and T20I cricket in store for India at home and in away conditions.
