During the final session of play on day two of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh, Virat Kohli made Shakib Al Hasan laugh with a hilarious remark about Sri Lankan great Lasith Malinga. The 35-year-old, who was in the middle during India’s second innings, had to endure a plethora of yorkers from Hasan Mahmud, which led to him funnily addressing Shakib Al Hasan in the field about how the pacer is trying to be Lasith Malinga, leaving the former Bangladesh captain in splits.
For the unversed, Virat Kohli was looking quite assured at the crease during his brief stay, scoring 17 off 37 with two fours before getting trapped lbw on the bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The right-handed batter didn’t opt for a DRS, and it didn’t prove to be a right decision after the replays showed that he had gotten an inside edge before the ball had crashed into his pads.

But, during his batting innings, when Hasan Mahmud attacked the stumps of Virat Kohli with yorkers, the former Indian captain saw the funny sight of it in his chat with Shakib Al Hasan. He was quoted as saying about Hasan Mahmud, “Malinga bana hua, yorker pe yorker de raha ((He is behaving like Lasith Malinga. Bowling yorkers after yorkers,” which brought out a huge laughter from Shakib Al Hasan.

Moreover, despite the early dismissal of Virat Kohli, India found themselves in a commanding position on day two of the first Test match, leading Bangladesh by 308 runs. At stumps on day two, they reached 81/3 in the second innings with Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant at the crease after bundling out Bangladesh for just 149 runs earlier on day two with Jasprit Bumrah picking up four wickets.
India had scored 376 runs in the first innings after a fantastic second Test hundred for Ravichandran Ashwin at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, stitching together a 199-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja.
