Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian cricketer, has filed a complaint with the Kolkata Police, in which he accused a person of cyberbullying and defamation, on Wednesday, September 18. The senior official of Kolkata Police cyber section addressed the media about starting a probe on the matter after Sourav Ganguly’s secretary filed a complaint on his behalf via an email, wherein a link to a video on social media platform X was attested in which his client was targeted.
Notably, the individual named Mrinmoy Das has allegedly posted a video targeting Sourav Ganguly, in which abusive language and derogatory remarks were made against him, harming his reputation. The secretary of Sourav Ganguly wanted the Kolkata Police cyber section to take appropriate legal action against Mrinmoy Das for bullying and defaming his client.
Accused used abusive language and made derogatory remarks against Sourav Ganguly
The officer of the Kolkata Police’s cyber section remarked that after they received the email from Sourav Ganguly’s secretary regarding the complaint, the matter is currently looked upon. According to the report from PTI, Sourav Ganguly’s secretary wrote the following in the complaint, “I am writing to bring to your attention a case of cyberbullying and defamation involving a person named Mrinmoy Das. This individual has posted a video on a social media platform that targets Sourav Ganguly, using abusive language and making derogatory remarks, which are harmful to his reputation.”
Sourav Ganguly’s secretary also spoke about trusting the cyber section of the Kolkata Police to address the issue, ensuring that Mrinmoy Das is punished for his wrongdoing. She added, “The context of the video constitutes not only an attack on Ganguly but also violates the dignity and respect that every individual is entitled to. We request your intervention in this matter and kindly ask that appropriate legal action be taken against Das for defaming and bullying Ganguly in this manner. We trust that the cyber department will take swift and necessary steps to address this issue and ensure that justice is served.”
