In the third match of the Duleep Trophy 2024 at Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, the India A bowlers wrapped up the second innings of India D for 301 runs during the second session of day 4, to register a 186-run victory. However, despite the tough loss, India D had put India A in some pressure when Ricky Bhui brought up a hundred for his team. The top-order batter played a fighting knock of 113 off 195 runs his team went past 300 runs in their second innings, but it was all in vain.
Coming to chase a mammoth target of 488 runs, India D didn’t have a great start as they lost their first wicket for just two runs, with Khaleel Ahmed dismissing Atharva Taide for a duck. After that, Yash Dubey and Ricky Bhui took the innings further with a partnership of 100 runs before Dubey was run out after scoring 37(94) runs. After that, Ricky Bhui took charge of the innings and kept scoring with wickets falling regularly at the other end.
Ricky Bhui reached his century on the fourth and final day of the match. He also got some support from Shreyas Iyer (41 off 55) and Sanju Samson (40 off 45) as India D were able to cross the 300-run mark. Bhui got out after scoring 113 runs from 195 balls with the help of 14 fours and three sixes losing his wicket to Tanush Kotian, caught by Riyan Parag. However, his knock wasn’t enough as India D lost the game by 186 runs.
Anshul Kamboj, Ruturaj Gaikwad shine as India C settle for draw with India B
Talking about the other match of the Duleep Trophy 2024, India B and India C settled for a draw at Rural Development Trust Stadium B in Anantapur. After taking a lead of 193 runs in the first innings, India C were 128/4 in their second innings before the captains agreed to call it a day. India C pacer Anshul Kamboj was awarded player of the match for his spell of 8/69 as India C bowled India B out for 332 runs in the first innings.
Coming to bat in the second innings, India C skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad played a captain’s knock of 62(93) runs with the help of eight fours and one six. Along with him, Rajat Patidar also played a crucial knock of 42 runs off 84 balls. For India B, Rahul Chahar took two wickets in the second innings.
