Pakistan’s star cricketer Babar Azam who has been going through a rough patch in his career, once again found himself in hot waters, but this time because of his behaviour. Azam was recently a part of Pakistan’s squad, which registered a 0-2 series loss to Bangladesh and couldn’t contribute much with bat for his side. The cricketer is now gearing up to participate in the Champions One-Day Cup, a domestic tournament in Pakistan.
However, before the onset of the tournament, Babar made headlines due to his behaviour with a fan off-the field. In a video going viral on social media, Azam could be seen behaving awkwardly with a fan. The video shows Azam refusing to let a fan wrap his arm around him while he was trying to take a photograph with him. After the picture, the cricketer was seen walking away. Needless to say, the video went viral in a matter of minutes, and the cricketer received criticism from fans for his behaviour.
The 29-year-old, who last smashed a fifty in Test sixteen innings ago has been on the other end of criticism due to his form slump. Azam was seen practising for the upcoming Champions Cup 2024, which is set to begin on September 12 in Faisalabad, Pakistan. A video making rounds on social media showcased Babar sweating out in the ground ahead of the tournament. To everyone’s surprise, the cricketer suffered a rare and surprising dismissal off a local-bowler’s delivery.
Azam attempted a paddle sweep but ended up misjudging the delivery and allowed the ball to sneak under his bat, which ended up crashing into the middle stump. Notably, the Men in Green are currently facing a major downfall, as after qualifying for the T20 World Cup 2022 final, the South Asian giants failed to make it to the ODI World Cup 2023 and had a below-par campaign at the T20 World Cup 2024.
