The opening round of India’s domestic tournament, Duleep Trophy 2024-25 ended with India B and India C clinching their respective matches. While India C beat India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Saturday, September 7 by four wickets, the Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India B secured a thrilling win over India A, taking the game by 76-run margin at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
With India A needing 275 runs on the final day of the match, India B restricted them to 198/10 with Yash Dayal scalping three wickets in the final innings. But what caught the eyeballs on the Day 4 of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 clash was star India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant joining India A huddle at the start of the day’s play.
Pant joins India A team huddle; leaves everyone in splits
The Indian keeper-batter, who made a comeback in red-ball cricket after surviving a massive accident in December 2022, was seen making the most of his time along with having a fun time along his teammates. Pant, who was playing for India B, hilariously joined India A team huddle.
Shubman Gill, who led India A was giving a pep-talk to the team as they took the field in the whites. Meanwhile, Pant seemed to be the only odd one as his team were batting early in the day. While he heard Gill, he had a fun banter with pacer Avesh Khan, who caught him. Moreover, Pant was clearly caught by everyone as one of the on-air commentators also saw, saying, “India A in the huddle this morning, who is the gentleman in a blue t-shirt. It’s Rishabh Pant, India B. He knows the plans.”
This incident not only left Avesh Khan in splits, but everyone who got hold of this, were seen rolling in laughter.
India B take six points with 76-run win over India A
On Sunday, September 8, India B pacers headed by Yash Dayal thumped victory over India A in Bengaluru. However, KL Rahul’s 57-run gritty knock helped them pile up some runs, but none of his teammates showed dominance as they fell short by 76 runs. While Yash Dayal picked three wickets, Navdeep Saini and Mukesh Kumar got two each with Washington Sundar and Nitish Reddy also finishing among the wickets.
