Fast bowler Simarjeet Singh has credited his Chennai Super Kings teammate MS Dhoni for helping him to develop into a better T20 bowler. The 26-year-old, who performed quite impressively for CSK in his limited opportunities in the IPL 2024 season, spoke about how MS Dhoni simplified things whenever he asked him for advice, telling him that playing simple cricket is the best way.
Notably, in his 10 matches for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL since 2022, Simarjeet Singh has picked up nine wickets at an economy of 8.93. His best performance in CSK colours came during the IPL 2024 season against Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, picking up the key wickets of Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Sanju Samson in the same innings.

During his exclusive interview with PTI, Simarjeet Singh praised MS Dhoni for helping him in enhancing his bowling skills in the last few years, and said, “MS Dhoni has helped me to develop myself as a better T20 bowler. I don’t think nobody else knows more about T20 cricket than him.”
“He (MS Dhoni) has taught me a lot; it’s not just one thing he has helped me with. We keep asking him for advice, and he always simplifies things by saying that playing simple cricket is the best way to play,” Delhi-born cricketer added.
Simarjeet Singh also looked forward to the 2024-25 season of domestic cricket in India where a lot of senior players from the national team are expected to be a part in various tournaments. He said, “I just want to learn and when senior India players come and play domestic cricket. We get to learn a lot for them.”
