Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto sent a stern warning to the Indian team after registering a historical win against Pakistan in the two-match Test series. Both teams will play a two-match Test series, starting on September 19. Notably, ahead of the series, Bangladesh registered their maiden Test series win against Pakistan. In the two-match Test series, Bangladesh won the first game by 10 wickets, followed by six wicket-win in the second Test.
“Means a lot, can’t express in words. Really happy. We were looking to win here and very happy with the way everyone has done their job. Very impressive. The work ethic of our pacers was great and that’s why we got the result. Everyone is honest with themselves and they want to win, I hope they continue. Joy missed out because of a niggle, and the way Shadman batted in the first Test was excellent,” said Shanto after the game.
Furthermore, Shanto banked on the experience of veteran players such as Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim. The left-hander, Shanto added that Mehidy Hasan Miraj, who took a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the second Test against Pakistan could be vital for the team’s chances against India. He added, “The next series Vs India is very important for us, this win will give us a lot of confidence. The way Mehidy bowled and took 5 wickets in these conditions is very impressive, hope he can do the same against India”.
India has never lost a Test match against Bangladesh
Both the Asian sides have played each other in 13 Tests since 2000. India have won 11 games and two games ended in a draw. However, the two-time World Test Championship finalists wouldn’t want to take the two-match Test series against Bangladesh lightly. This series is part of the ongoing World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.
After Bangladesh’s historic win against Pakistan, they have jumped to number four in the points table with a win percentage of 45.83 after three wins in six games. On the other hand, India is sitting on the top of the table with a win percentage of 68.52. The result of this series will have a significant impact on the WTC 2023-25 points table.
