Veteran Indian batter, Shikhar Dhawan retired from all forms of cricket including international and domestic on Saturday, August 24. The 38-year-old has achieved significant milestones in his cricketing career and has played many big knocks for his teams. The former cricketer was one of the main openers for the Indian team in the last decade and has been a part of many iconic victories with Men in Blue.

Shikhar Dhawan had a memorable Test debut for India in a match against Australia in Mohali in 2013. Playing his maiden Test match, Dhawan went on to score a hundred in just 85 balls, which is still the record for the fastest hundred on Test debut. Dhawan scored 187 runs off 174 balls in that Test match.
Highest score by an Indian player on Test debut
Apart from the fastest hundred on Test debut, Shikhar Dhawan achieved another milestone on his maiden Test for India by scoring 187 runs off 174 balls against Australia in Mohali in 2013. Notably, this is the highest score by an Indian player on Test debut.
Most runs for India in Champions Trophy
Shikhar Dhawan is the highest run-scorer for India in the Champions Trophy. He has been given the title of ‘Mr. ICC’ for his consistent performance in the ICC tournaments. The left-hander was Player of the Tournament by being the highest run-getter in the 2013 Champions Trophy with 363 runs in five innings as India lifted the title that year. Dhawan was also the highest run-scorer in the 2017 Champions Trophy with 338 runs in five innings. The former cricketer has scored 701 runs in matches of the Champions Trophy at an average of 77.88 with three hundreds and three fifties.
Fourth fastest player to score 6000 ODI runs
Shikhar Dhawan is the fourth fastest player to reach the milestone of 6000 runs in the ODI format. The opening batter took 140 innings to cross 6000 runs in the 50-over format. He is behind Hashim Amla, Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli in this list. Dhawan has scored 6793 runs from 167 matches in his ODI career.
Most fours in the IPL
Shikhar Dhawan retired as a player to hit most fours in the history of the IPL. The opening batter has scored 768 fours from 222 matches in his IPL career from 2008 to 2024.
Second highest run-scorer in the IPL
Shikhar Dhawan has been one of the most consistent batters in the IPL and retired as the second highest run-scorer of all time in the cash-rich league. Dhawan has scored 6769 runs from 222 matches in his IPL career (2208-2024) while playing for five different franchises, namely, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Deccan Charges and Punjab Kings.
