Former Tennis player Ashutosh Singh is the new Indian Davis Cup coach for the next Davis Cup fixture in September. Singh is set to replace Zeeshan Ali who announced his resignation on August 14. India were promoted to the World Group I after blanking Pakistan 4-0 in the play-offs in Islamabad in February.
India’s next Davis Cup assignment is an away World Group I tie against Sweden in Stockholm on September 14-15. As per PTI, former Indian player Ashutosh Singh will replace Zeeshan Ali. The report also confirmed Yuki Bhambri and Sasikumar Mukund will not be part of the Indian team

The development as per PTI said, “Ashutosh Singh is new Davis Cup coach! Yuki Bhambri will not travel to Sweden, and Sasikumar Mukund yet again not part of the team.”

Speaking about his resignation, Zeeshan Ali stated that he was honoured and privileged to be captain, player and coach of the Indian Davis Cup team. As quoted by PTI, Zeeshan Ali said, “I’ve been coach of the Davis Cup team for 11 years now.”
“To top it all, I was also the captain of the Davis Cup, the historic tie that we played against Pakistan in Pakistan earlier this year. I don’t think there is any such person from any country who has had the privilege and honour of doing all these three things.”
