Indian continued to dominate in shooting after Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched second bronze medal for the country on Tuesday. Young Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale qualified for the final of men’s 50m rifle 3 positions at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Wednesday, July 31 as he secured the seventh place in the qualification round at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre.
Kusale aggregated a total of 590 points in his rally of 60 shots, hitting 38 inner 10s which was enough to seal him a place in the final of the shooting event. The 29-year-old got off to a strong start when he managed to score 99 in first two series. He followed them with scores of 98 and 99 in the prone position, finishing with the scores of 98 and 97 in the standing positions to enter the final.
The Indian shooter will next be seen in action on Thursday in the final of the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions.
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar finishes at 11th place; bows out of medal race
The other Indian in the men’s 50 rifle 3 positions, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar finished at 11th place with an aggregate of 589 in the qualification round. Aishwary was in contention to finish in the top eight, but his 95-point finish in the standing series, dropped him out of the race.
China’s Liu Yukun finished at the first place, registering an Olympic qualification record of 594, whereas his compatriot, Du Linshu, who also holds the world qualification record, failed to make the cut.
