Paris Olympics 2024 Badminton: Satwik-Chirag beat Ardianto-Alfian 21-13, 21-13 in last Group C clash

Indian medal prospects Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty took down Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto 21-13, 21-13 in the last Group C game of the Badminton men’s doubles event at the Paris Olympics 2024. After already sealing quarterfinal qualification, SatChi secured the top spot fro m their group with this win over the world number seven Indonesian pair.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty zoomed through Game 1 to register a comfortable 21-13 win with a dominant display. The first game started off as a tough contest until the break after which the Indian duo zoomed through to win with a massive margin. 

The second game was also a similar story as  Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto kept it close till the 11-point break after which SatChi turned on the afterburners to finish on top of Group C with an undefeated record of two wins and one called off clash.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and  Chirag Shetty  became first Indians to seal qualification for the men’s doubles quarter-finals at the Paris Olympics   2024 badminton tournament.  The Indian pair were slated to take on  Germany’s  Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel, who withdrew. Before this match up, Satchi defeated the French pair of Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar, who also lost to  Ardianto-Alfian.

Hence with  Satwik-Chirag and the Indonesian pair winning a match each while the French and German pair being elimated and withdrawn respectively.  Since two teams each from the four groups qualify for the quarterfinals, Satwik-Chirag and Ard ianto-Alfian have qualified for the quarterfinals.
