Absolute destruction from Ben Stokes: Netizens react as England chase 82-run target inside eight overs vs West Indies in third Test

On Sunday, July 28, England chased down the 82-run target inside just eight overs against the West Indies in the third and final Test of the series at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. The captain Ben Stokes, who promoted himself at the top of the order on day three, scored the fastest fifty in Tests for England, to ensure a 10-wicket win alongside Ben Duckett, completing a 3-0 clean sweep in the series.

At the start of day three, West Indies were 33/2 in the second innings, trailing England by 61 runs. After Alick Athanaze lost his wicket early to Shoaib Bashir, the West Indies pairing of Mikyle Louis and Kavem Hodge 72-run stand for the fourth wicket, to put the team in the lead.

But then, Mark Wood unleashed a brutal spell of reverse swing bowling on the West Indies, picking up five wickets in just four overs, to help England bundle them out for 175 runs. In pursuit of an 82-run target, Ben Stokes promoted himself at the top of the order before smashing the West Indies bowlers to all corners of Edgbaston, completing his fifty in just 24 balls, the fastest for England in Tests and the third-fastest overall.

Just an over prior, Ben Duckett smashed four fours in one over off Jason Holder, to join in on the fun alongside his captain Ben Stokes.
