Former Indian Olympian and India’s Chef de Mission at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gagan Narang took to social media to share a message for Indian shooter, Sarabjot Singh, who missed a finals berth by a whisker. On Saturday, July 27, Singh, failed to qualify for the men’s 10m air pistol final, giving India a disappointing day in shooting at the Summer Games.
Sarabjot Singh secured the ninth place with a total score of 577 in the qualification, while he compatriot, Arjun Singh Cheema finished far behind at 18th place with an aggregate of 574. Speaking of Sarabjot, the Indian sharp shooter missed a spot against Germany’s Robin Walter, who also scored 577, but qualified on one more inner 10 (X) than Sarabjot’s 16.
Gagan Narang shares special message for Sarabjot Singh
The 22-year-old Indian shooter who was seen in tears after missing a spot in the finals of the 10m air pistol was seen being consoled by former Olympic medallist, Gagan Narang. Taking to social media, Narang shared a screenshot of his Instagram story where he had written, “No one can understand how Sarabjot feels like I do. I faced a similar situation missing out on a count back in 2008 Beijing Olympics.”
Consoling the youngster, Narang further added, “Chin up @sarabjotsingh30 you have one more event.. You got this .. come back stronger and conquer the world my friend.” It is to be noted that Sarabjot still has one more opportunity as he will team up with Manu Bhaker in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Paris Olympics.
