Former India middle-order batter and National Cricket Academy (NCA) Chief, VVS Laxman is likely to join Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). According to a report in the Times of India (TOI), the Lucknow-based franchise has expressed interest in signing the former India cricketer for coaching role ahead of the 2025 edition of the cash-rich league.
Laxman, who currently serves as the NCA head, is set to end his contract in September this year. However, he is unlikely to extend the contract and reports reveal that the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise has approached the 49-year-old to join their coaching setup. Moreover, reports further add that the LSG management has had informal talks with VVS Laxman.
If he joins LSG’s team management, it would be not his first assignment in the IPL setup. The 49-year-old has previously served as the mentor of the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) before being appointed the NCA head in November 2021. Additionally, he has also served as India’s head coach on several occasions in absence of Rahul Dravid.
