Indian tennis star Yuki Bhambri and his French partner Albano Olivetti won the men’s doubles title at the ATP Swiss Open. The Indo-French duo defeated French pair Fabrice Martin and Ugo Humber 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 at Gstaad. The Swiss Open will be Bhambri’s third ATP title all of which have come in the 250 series. He won his first title on the ATP Tour in 2023 alongside Lloyd Harris at the Mallorca Championships in Spain.
As a pair, Bhambri and Olivetti clinched their second title, with the first coming earlier in the year when they defeated Andreas Mies and Jen-Lennard Struff to take home the Bavarian Championships (BMW Open). It wasn’t an easy final for Bhambri and Olivetti as they had to battle it out for an hour and six minutes to secure the title.
Ahead of the summit clash, the Indo-French duo hadn’t dropped a set where they took on the unseeded duo, who had defeated the no.1-seeded pair of Jamie Murray and Adam Pavlasek in the quarter-final. After losing the first set 3-6, Bhambri and Olivetti came back to draw level with a 6-3 set and forced the tie-break, eventually winning the decider 10-6.
The Indian tennis player and his French partner took part in the Roland Garros and the Wimbledon Grand Slams in 2024 but lost out in the first and second rounds, respectively. The Indo-French duo will be in action next week as the top-seeded pair for an ATP 250 event in Umag, Croatia.
