Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee is set to undergo his medical with Manchester United today on July 12. The 23-year-old forward is set to join the Premier League club after Italian club Bologna agreed a fee of over £35m (€42.5m) – above the £33.6m (€40m) release clause for the Dutchman.
Zirkzee, who scored 12 goals for Bologna last season, is set to become United’s first signing of the summer after the club brought major changes to its coaching staff. The Red Devils brought in former player Ruud van Nistelrooy and Go-Ahead Eagles coach Rene Hake on two-year contracts to become part of Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff.
After agreeing to a transfer fee, multiple reports confirm that Joshua Zirkzee is in Manchester and undergoing his medical and is expected to sign his contract until 2029 plus one more year as an option today and the deal will be announced. Zirkzee will also have a one-on-one conversation with Ten Hag as he signs his contract.
Delighted that Rene and Ruud have agreed to join our project: Ten Hag
Before the completion of the Zirkzee transfer, Erik ten Hag reflected on the new additions to his coaching staff. The Dutch manager said, “I am delighted that Rene and Ruud have agreed to join our project, adding a wealth of experience, knowledge and new energy to the staff. Now is a good time to refresh the coaching team as we look to build on the achievements of the past two years and push to the next level.”
