England fans chanted ‘Southgate you’re the one’ at England boss Gareth Southgate’s lookalike ahead of their Euro 2024 semi-final clash against the Netherlands. The Three Lions took down their counterparts by 2-1 to make it to the final of the Euro 2024. Notably, Southgate has been facing heat from fans and pundits for his over-cautious approach in major tournaments off late. This is their opportunity for the first time in 58 years, which might help the England boss to shut his critics and prove his mettle.
Ahead of the match, England fans serenaded a German policeman who had an uncanny resemblance to Southgate. The policeman was surrounded by fans who started to sing Southgate’s ‘You are the One’ chants at him. In videos doing rounds on social media, the cop tried but failed to control his reaction and broke into a little smirk.

We all want to be loved, right?- Gareth Southgate after England qualified for Euro 2024 final
After England made it to the final of the UEFA European Championships 2024, the 53-year-old manager gave an emotional reaction. During the post-match conference, he said, “We all want to be loved, right? When you’re doing something for your country and you’re a proud Englishman, when you don’t feel that back and when all you read is criticism, it’s hard. So to be able to celebrate the second final is very, very special.”
He added, “If I hadn’t been on the grass, I’d have been watching, celebrating like they were. We are kindred spirits in many ways but of course, I’m the one who has to pick a team. So to be able to give them a night like tonight, it’s very special.”
In the final, England will take on unbeaten Spain in their maiden away final in the Euros.
