The Indian tennis veteran Rohan Boppana, who paired with Australia’s Matthew Ebden, suffered a disappointing exit from the ongoing Wimbledon 2024 on Saturday. The India-Australian pair crashed out of the tournament after their round two exit, where they lost to unseeded German duo Hendrick Jebens and Constantin Frantzen.
The Indo-Aussie pair went down to the unseeded pair in a straight set defeat of 6-3, 7-6 (4), which lasted for just over an hour. The Bopanna-Ebden, who earlier triumphed at the Australian Open, were seen on the back foot and finally surrendered in the opening set.
While the German duo took a considerable lead in the opening set to claim it, 6-3, the second set was interrupted by rain with the scored tied at five games apiece. But soon after resumption, Jebens and Frantzen seized control of the game and took a lead 4-1. The German pair continued their dominance and ultimately clinched victory.
The Indian-Australian pair early entered the second round with straight set wins over S. Arends and R. Haase 7-5, 6-4.
