The BGIS 2024 Grand Finals, a top even in Indian esports, kicked off on June 28, and is going on in full swing at the Hitex Exhibition Center in Hyderabad. The three-day extravaganza saw Global Esports dethroning Team Soul from the top position after the conclusion of 12 matches on Day 2. Not only this, but the Mavi-led team also became the first team to cross the 100-point mark in the contest.
The tournament features a total of 16 BGMI teams competing for the championship as well as a staggering prize money of INR 60 Lakh. As of writing, Global Esports were pushed a spot down by Team XSpark with 119 points while Team Tamilas were on third spot with 101 points, with Global Esports having 111 points. As players and teams got into action, Sensei aka Deepak Negi from Revenant Esports interacted with SportsTiger and spoke about the team that came off as underdogs and have potential to do big in the discipline.
On being asked about the team that left the Revenant star impressed, he told SportsTiger, “Honestly, one team I didn’t know of and has been doing extremely well is Team Limra. They are new and lack experience. They are playing their first LAN event as a team, and are nervous. I interacted with them, and I feel that team could do wonders.” Team Limra occupied fourth spot on standings at the time of writing.
Sensei also opened up about his team’s approach had they been a part of the event and quoted Kanye West while saying, “We won’t ever know.” Notably, teams including Revenant, Blind, Team Forever and Team Zero failed to make it to the BGIS 2024 finals. These teams couldn’t produce required results to qualify for the semifinals during the wildcard phase.
