Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer and the ambassador of the T20 World Cup 2024, took to his official X account to congratulate Team India for defeating England in the semifinal of the tournament. In the same post, the 42-year-old, also took a sly dig at his in-laws as their daughter and his wife Hazel Keech, an actress and model, are all born and brought up in England.
Notably, the Indian cricket team were able to defeat England by 68 runs in a one-sided semifinal of the T20 World Cup, which was played at the Providence Stadium in Georgetown, Guyana. The captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav batted brilliantly for India, playing a major role in setting up an above total of 171/7 on the board in their allotted overs.
In their pursuit of the 172-run target, England weren’t quite in the contest after losing the big wicket of their captain Jos Buttler, which led to a flurry of wickets for the Indians. Harry Brook was batting well during his brief stay at the crease, but after his dismissal, England fell away in a heap, getting bundled out for 103 runs within 17 overs.
With this one-sided win, India booked their place in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 against South Africa, which will be played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. In celebrating the big triumph for the Indian cricket team, Yuvraj Singh sent out a post on X, which read, “Well played boys, goodnight in-laws #IndiaVsEng #ICCMensT20WorldCup2024”.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, commented on the semifinal win in the press conference, and said, “Very satisfying to win this game. We worked really hard as a unit. To win this game like that was a great effort from everybody. We adapted to the conditions really well. The conditions were a little challenging, we had to adapt and that’s been the success story for us so far till this game.”
