The Australian cricketer, Marnus Labuschagne, took an outrageous one-handed catch diving full-stretch during a Vitality Blast 2024 match for Glamorgan against Gloucestershire at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The match also had a thrilling finish to it, which saw Josh Shaw of Gloucestershire hit the last ball for a six to clinch a two-wicket win against Glamorgan on the road.
During the pursuit of a 141-run target, Gloucestershire were struggling at 45-4 going into the 10th over when the leg-spinner Mason Crane delivered a ball turning into the left-hander Ben Charlesworth. The batter lofted the ball towards the long-on region where Marnus Labuschagne, who was placed squarer, had to run a country mile towards his right to have any chance to stop the ball from going for a four.
Marnus Labuschagne managed to find himself within touching distance of the ball before he dived full-length, low to the ground to complete the catch with his outstretched right hand. The 29-year-old was in shock to grab hold of the ball before sprinting all over the Sophia Gardens with his Glamorgan teammates trying to grab hold of him.
Earlier in the match, Marnus Labuschagne scored just 18 off 15 with three fours, but some decent contributions from his teammates led to Glamorgan reaching a 140/8 total, which proved to be quite competitive. The captain of Gloucestershire, Jack Taylor, put together an incredible innings of 70 off 48 with two fours and five maximums, playing a major role for his team in winning the match on the last ball.
With this vital triumph, Gloucestershire jumped up to fifth place in the South Group of the Vitality Blast 2024, while Glamorgan slipped to seventh place in the standings.
